Awarded "WTA International Tournament of the Year" in 2018, the WTA 250 Series Event is supported by the Hong Kong Government and title sponsor Prudential Hong Kong Limited. It annually showcases a line-up of world-class players, with past players including Grand Slam champions Venus Williams, Naomi Osaka, Caroline Wozniacki, Angelique Kerber & Garbiñe Muguruza, alongside many of China's top stars. The 2023 singles champion was Leylah Fernandez and the doubles title was captured by Tang Qianhui and Tsao Chia Yi.
The tournament is a community sports event with the goals of engaging people from all walks of life and fostering a passion for sport and physical activity in the region. This year, more than 50 of the world's best female players will compete in singles and doubles for prize money of US$250,000 from 26 October to 3 November at the iconic Victoria Park Stadium in the heart of the city.
