"Hong Kong Squash Open", an "M" Mark event supported by the Major Sports Events Committee, is listed as one of the Platinum events, which is the highest-ranked tournament level of the Professional Squash Association World Tour series. Each year, the event attracts most of the top-class squash professionals around the world to compete in the tournament.

With the spectacular setting of the portable glass court at public venues for the semi-finals and finals, donated by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust; a breath-taking live action is brought to the general public and to those spectators at home via live TV broadcast. Also, audiences from all over the world could also enjoy the excitement through the internet and TV broadcast in various major international sports channels. The beauty of Hong Kong is shown to the huge crowd of sports lovers, not just the squash fans.
