Hong Kong Beach Festival

Background of Hong Kong Beach Festival

"Hong Kong Beach Festival 2007", jointly organised by the Volleyball Association of HK, China and Handball Association of HK, was held in Victoria Park from 2 to 11 November 2007. A main sand court, a side sand court and a carnival area were being set up and occupied a total area of 3 soccer pitches.

Since its first year in 2006, the event has been recognised as an "M" Mark event and supported by the Major Sports Events Committee under the Sports Commission in terms of funding and administration. In the second year, apart from Beach Handball Competition and Beach Volleyball Competition, demonstration matches of Beach Soccer, Beach Rugby and Beach Tchoukball, Bodybuilding Championships and Latin Dance were also being held in collaboration with another four Associations.

The International Beach Handball Women's Challenger was held from 2 to 4 Nov 2007, with participating teams including China, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong. The champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up were China, Taiwan and Hong Kong respectively.

The FIVB International Beach Volleyball Women's Challengers had 24 teams from 14 countries. The champion and the 1st runner-up were the 2008 Olympics representative teams of China. The 2nd runner-up of the event was the Thailand Team.
